Viewers in Gulf can watch it on Star TV through Pehla
With the global film industry witnessing constantly changing trends to capture the imagination of its film viewers, Bollywood – India’s film fraternity – is preparing to highlight its prominent role in spearheading this revolution.
Yorkshire in the UK, which is famous for its pudding, has become a beehive of activity as the grand finale for the biggest Bollywood event of the year – the annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards – takes place on June 17 from 2000 hrs to 2215 hrs (UAE time) on Pehla with the best of Indian films competing for the top honours.
The rich and the famous of Bollywood and prominent dignitaries globally are headed for this destination, where the event will be showcasing about 22 classics from India based on the theme “Love At First Sight,” besides three UK premieres and tributes to big names of the Indian Film Industry.
Glamour and comedy too will be charming the audiences at the Yorkshire venue - and those watching their television screens worldwide -- as the IIFA Awards extravaganza is being hosted by Bollywood beauty Lara Dutta along with comics Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani.
With television viewers in the UAE and across the region eagerly waiting to watch the prestigious IIFA event, Pehla is bringing this event to its subscribers through its channel partner Star Plus.
Like every year, this year too holds a lot in store for viewers as the “crème de la crème” of Bollywood is likely to be there. The Big “B” of Bollywood and IIFA Brand Ambassador – superstar Amitabh Bachchan – got the ball rolling for the IIFA Awards with his presence where the red carpet was rolled out for him in the UK.
On May 8, the IIFA announced the names of ten nominees for the “Idea IIFA Star Ki Talaash.” Charity too was highlighted during the IIFA Awards as Asia’s cricketing giants like Kapil Dev and Mohammed Azharuddin along with top Bollywood stars including Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, matched their cricketing skills against those of a UK celebrity team comprising Phil de Freitas and others for the “IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match.”
June 7 to 10 witnessed the best of Bollywood heroes and heroines gyrating to the songs from their films for the entertainment of their audiences, besides food, fashion, music, shopping and fairs attracting crowds of visitors at the IIFA Weekend.
June 17 will witness this entertainment climaxing in the IIFA Awards ceremony, that is only held once a year, and now being brought to television screens across the region by Pehla. |
